On (Saturday) June 3, 2023, the New Bedford Branch of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (“NAACP”) will be hosting its 34th Annual Freedom Fund Breakfast at the Century House, located at 107 S. Main Street in Acushnet, Massachusetts from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Joseph D. Feaster, Jr., Esq., who serves as an executive committee member of the Massachusetts Association of Mental Health, Inc., co-chair of the My Brother’s Keeper Boston Advisory Board, and a former board member of the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) of Boston. Attorney Feaster will address this year’s theme: “Rebuilding Our Community: Stronger Together.”
As stated by Renee Ledbetter, President of the NAACP New Bedford Branch, “We are excited to celebrate thirty-four years of this important community breakfast. This year’s theme truly reflects the NAACP New Bedford Branch’s commitment to community engagement, collaboration, and team building as we strive to enhance and enrich the lives of all citizens by continuing the fight against discrimination and racial injustice in the areas of employment, housing, education, and public accommodations.”
In addition to the keynote address, the 34 th Annual Freedom Fund Breakfast will feature a scholarship presentation to local high school recipients, an awards presentation honoring those who have contributed to the Branch’s growth and sustainability, and a raffle, as well as a full breakfast.
