The New Bedford Human Relations Commission is asking the public to share their candid responses to a questionnaire on experiences with the New Bedford Police Department.
The New Bedford Human Relations Commission is a 9 member board appointed by the mayor and approved by the City Council. Its’ purpose is to promote acceptance and respect of all citizens of the City and to ensure equal opportunity and adherence to Mass General Laws on discrimination:
Sec. 2-133- Powers and Duties.
- It shall study and investigate individual or community problems of limited opportunity, prejudice, discrimination, segregation, and disorder and tensions and shall be empowered to receive written complaints.
- It may issue reports and publications on its study, research, and investigation to promote greater understanding of the problems, needs, and progress in intergroup relations and equal opportunity.
The HRC is asking the public to give their candid responses to this questionnaire so we can fully understand all citizens’ experiences with the New Bedford Police Department. The survey is anonymous unless you specifically ask us to contact you. The HRC will keep all information confidential unless you ask us to make it public.
